After several bouts of enforced inactivity, I am finally getting back into more interesting pursuits. The past few years have been ....
It seems to me that many of us suffer from "butterfly mind" syndrome.
Current status...
I am enjoying the "Dominion of...." series, I am amazed how easy it is to weave the story of the action to explain the outcome. To keep it as portable as possible I bought some "Risk" figures. Just base 'em and use 'em, I thought. Yeah right. So on reading further rules I bought more figures. Then of course the figures simply BEGGED to be painted. Now my painting was never good, and it has not improved in the past few years, but I have salved my conscience now and played many games. Of course they really deserve a campaign.... with a map.
I never ever got round to playing " In Her Majesty's Name" but now I have some Prussians and British (Home Service Dress) plus Lord Curr's Company and The Black Dragon Tong all in 15/18mm (a few rough conversions of other figures). All painted. Hooray!
Of course The Baron's war is tempting.... but I am thinking of The Anarchy. Then there is also another Civil War ..... Caesar v Pompey. And if anyone knows of a producer of 1930s style European civillians in 15mm that would be great?
There seem to have been an awful lot of miniature producers giving up in the past few months. Very depressing.
Metropolitan Line Underground Beyer Peacock 1868 Locomotive and Prussian Subterranean Transport Vehicle. Just cardboard and stuff, not good but they will do me. Trucks and track to make.
I think we’re all enjoying the Dominion series of rules (I understand Steve’s currently working on a double-issue for Russian Civil War & Back of Beyond rules). Regarding figures my motto is “if in doubt, check eBay” as there are usually plenty of pre-painted figures you can pick up 😉
